Pi Network’s development is once again drawing attention from the crypto community. After completing the Protocol 27 upgrade, Pi Network is now preparing for its next phase with Protocol 28, scheduled to arrive on Mainnet on October 16, 2026.
According to information published by Pi Network, this latest update is part of the ongoing development of Pi’s blockchain infrastructure and ecosystem.
Protocol 28 Scheduled for October
Protocol 28 has currently entered the Testnet stage. Pi Network states that the update is designed to improve transaction data management and to give developers the ability to upgrade multiple groups of smart contracts simultaneously.
Mainnet is scheduled to receive Protocol 28 on October 16, 2026. Prior to that launch, Node operators are required to update their software by October 13, 2026.
For the Pi community, this schedule is one of the key agendas to watch as we enter October.
KYC and Mainnet Migration Remain a Focus
In addition to protocol development, Pi Network continues to improve the KYC process and Mainnet migration.
In an official update on September 17, 2026, Pi Network stated that it has implemented several technical fixes to handle various cases that previously could hinder KYC submissions and migration to Mainnet.
This shows that Pi’s development is not only focused on blockchain technology, but also on user onboarding and asset migration to Mainnet.
Developers Gain More Capabilities
Pi Network is also continuing to expand facilities for developers. In September 2026, Pi announced new capabilities for developers as well as additional documentation to help with building applications within the Pi ecosystem.
On September 9, Pi also introduced the SoloHost update via Pi Desktop version 0.6.3, which brought improvements in app discovery, reliability, and developer tools.
This development is important because the utility value of a blockchain network is not only determined by the token price, but also by the applications, services, transactions, and user activities that actually run within its ecosystem.
What About the PI Price?
On the market side, PI price is still moving in relatively volatile conditions. Recent reports place PI around the $0.09 area, while the $0.10 level is one of the areas closely watched by technical analysts.
However, price development is not the same as the fundamental development of the network. The launch of upgrades, app growth, KYC improvements, user activity, and the use of PI in transactions are several different factors that need to be considered separately.
Therefore, the community should not only look at daily price movements when assessing the progress of Pi Network.
October Could Be an Important Month for Pi Network
With Protocol 28 scheduled for October 16, October will be one of the most interesting periods to follow Pi Network’s development.
If the schedule goes as planned, users and Node operators will enter a new phase after the completion of Protocol 27. At the same time, developments in KYC, Mainnet migration, Pi apps, and ecosystem utility will remain important factors determining the future growth of the network.
For Pioneers, the next developments are worth monitoring not only from the side of PI’s price, but also from the side of technology and real-world use of the Pi Network ecosystem.
